GOING IT ALONE
I can find a job for myself!
Job seeking on your own behalf can be a minefield.
Many questions have to be answered:
- Can I send the same CV/covering
letter out to more than one employer,
or should I tailor my details to
individual employers. If so how?
- How long will it take to find the
position I am seeking?
- Am I aiming too high? Or too low?
- Are my salary expectations
reasonable
- What can I expect to earn in my area/my level of responsibility?
And if I am offered the
position, how can I be sure that the offer is fair?
- Who are the best people to work for and why?
- Can I apply to the same company
more than once, and if I can:
- Why was I rejected first time around?
- Why is my application relevant this time?
The Downside
If you are currently working, but looking for a new
opportunity, chances are you are busy.
You need to have the time to prepare your CV and letters of application, fill out
application forms. And be contactable when a client needs to get in touch with you for
interview, usually at short notice!
Once you've had your first interview and you have
decided you want to be included on the short-list, how do you go about it?
How good are you
at self-promotion? |

Using a
good
Recruitment Consultancy
A good recruitment consultancy is probably one of the most cost effective services you
are ever likely to find - because it costs nothing. And if you have chosen your
consultancy well, you won't be rail-roaded into pursuing opportunities that you are not
interested in, but you will have the opportunity to hear about them!
When you
use a good consultancy
you form a partnership

You are always
in control!
Last but by no means least, not all employers
advertise their positions. Like you they are busy doing what they do best. Rely on
advertised positions and you will probably miss out on the opportunity that you really
want. |
